Jeffery Deaver is an American author of mystery novels born in Glen Ellyn near Chicago, Illinois. Having been born to a family with cultural interests, he enjoyed music and books as a child. When he was eleven years old, he began to write a novel that was left unfinished, he edited the high school literary magazine and contributed to the school magazine. He later read journalism at the University of Missouri, worked as a journalist and had a modest career as a country and western singer-songwriter. Some of his lyrics are included in the novel XO (2012). Also in 2012, the singer Treva Blomquist recorded a dozen of his country and western songs – set to music by Clay and Ken Landers – on Jeffery Deaver’s XO (The Album).
