An English poet and also a notorious adventurer and traveler, born in London. His father, who was known as "Mad Jack", did not hesitate to squander away a fortune and disappeared to France, where he died when his son was three years old. Byron had to spend his childhood together with his mentally weak mother in an impoverished home near Aberdeen in Scotland. But already at the age of ten he became - through a series of unexpected deaths in the family - the Lord Byron and an inheritor of large family estates.
