Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger de Saint Exupéry was born on June 29 in Lyon, France. He came from an aristocratic, but not wealthy, family. His father died before his son was four, and his mother moved to Le Mans with her five children. This was where Saint-Exupéry attended school. He was aiming for a naval certificate, but he failed the exam.
