John Sladek was an American author, known for his science-fiction and crime stories that contain a lot of satire and have received praise for being extremely entertaining. He was born in Iowa, and after finishing school he started to study to become a machine constructor. However, he dropped out of that course and instead started to study English Literature at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis–Saint Paul. He didn’t graduate; instead, from 1959 on he had various temporary jobs.
