American author, who was known both under his own name and the pseudonyms George Bagby and Hampton Stone. Aaron Marc Stein wrote between 110 and 120 novels, as well as a handful of short stories that were never collected in book form – and almost everything he wrote was crime fiction. He was not, however, one of the usual literary mass producers: even though he wrote a great deal, his stories were generally of a good quality. He often received positive reviews, he was the president of MWA (Mystery Writers of America) in 1974, and in 1979 was honoured with that organisation’s finest Grand Master Award.
